Avoid potential downtime of your Cat® equipment with S•O•S testing

What is S•O•S testing?
Scheduled Oil Sampling (S•O•S) helps you monitor your machine’s health using a small sample of oil. Our oil testing gives us valuable information helping us identify the wear modes like Corrosion, Abrasion, Adhesive and Fatigue type. The Viscosity and Additive elements indicate whether oil formulation is accurate. After analyzing the various aspects about the equipment, the S•O•S lab prepares a case study of how failure may be prevented and repair cost reduced.

S•O•S℠ service benefits
S•O•S testing is one of the primary maintenance programs that offers various benefits including: 1. Detecting problem early, helping cut costs on major repairs. 2. Helps schedule downtime to manage workload. 3. Monitors positives and negatives, avoiding payment for repair of components that are not worn out. 4. Monitor maintenance schedules to verify that routine maintenance is performed. 5. Better manage budgets by predicting repairs, downtime and equipment life. 6. Availability of a complete service history for each machine, leading to a potential higher price at trade-in or sale.

Sample integrity

Fluid samples must be representative and contamination-free. A homogeneous sample requires well-mixed fluid. Contaminated samples waste time and resources.

Data integrity

The machine/engine data must accurately reflect the sample. Providing complete label information ensures you get the full benefit of S•O•S services.

Timely sample submission

Timely sample submission is crucial for proactive condition monitoring. Delays in sending samples to the S•O•S lab can lead to rising costs if abnormal conditions exist.

Trend analysis

Trend analysis helps evaluate analytical data by identifying deviations from established wear patterns. This enables proactive detection and confident diagnosis of potential issues.
